Noach | נח | “Noah ” -That the Holy One, Blessed be He, favoured
–Messiah ben Yosef is to be rejected, just as Noah was rejected. “Sheker haHen” – He is considered a liar by his generation.if Israel recognised Yosef… we would have been completely redeemed already; The Righteous one is the pillar for which the world stands
– O! House of Yaaqov! Come into the ARK ( i.e Word), Enter within the words of prayer and Torah study ( i.e Torah of Mashiach ); And I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall come into the ark.
The Second parsha reading in the book of Genesis is named after Noah. In Hebrew, the name Noah is spelled Noach (נח) and Hebrew word is “rest.” And it also says that his parents named him Noah (Noach נח) because they hoped their son would give them rest (nacham, נחם) from their toil. – Genesis 5 : 29
This is Noah’s chronicle. Noah was a righteous man; in his generation, he was above reproach: Noah walked with G-d. – Genesis 6:9
SUMMARY:
- G-d decides to cause a flood that will destroy the world and sparing only Noah’s family and the animals that Noah gathers together on the ark. (Gen 6:9-8:22)
- The Noahide Commandments are listed, and G-d uses a rainbow to make a symbol of the first covenant. (Gen 9:1-17)
- People start to build a city and the Tower of Babel. G-d scatters the people and gives them different languages to speak. ( Gen 11:1-9)
- The ten generations from Noah to Abram are listed. ( Gen 11:10-29:2)
Noah and Hen (grace) :
And Noah found favor in the eyes of HaShem – Genesis 6:8.
But on Noah’s generation, human existence was preserved only because of him, as the verse states: “I am going to put an end to all people” (Genesis 6:13), and also: “Noah was a righteous man, perfect among the people” (Genesis 6:9); and then: “Noah found Grace in the eyes of HaShem” (Genesis 6:8).
Zohar writings: These are the generations of Noah…”(Beresheet 6:9). Rabbi Chiya opened the discussion with the verses: “NOAH WAS A RIGHTEOUS MAN”, AND, “Your people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land forever; they shall be the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, that I may be glorified”(Yeshayah 60:21). A WAS RAISED AFTER THE STATEMENT, “THESE ARE THE GENERATIONS OF NOAH,” THE TEXT SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED, ‘SHEM, HAM, AND JAPHETH.’ IT SHOULD NOT HAVE ENDED WITH “NOAH WAS A RIGHTEOUS MAN.” HE FURTHER STATED: Happy are Yisrael, who occupy themselves with the Torah and are familiar with its paths, through which they will merit the World to Come.
Noah in Hebrew means rest. ‘When Noah (נח) was born he was named after the word: “Comfort” (Nekhamah – נחמה), so that the name would determine his destiny -Gen 5:28; cf. Berakhot 7b.
Noah is the symmetry (the reverse) of Hen (meaning ‘favor’ or ‘grace’ or ‘charm’). As it is said: “And Noah found Hen [in the eyes of HaShem]”. Hen is Noah [in symmetry]. (cf. Zohar 1:58b)
Noah and Hen (grace) are compromised of the same two Hebrew letters (Nun and Het). ‘Hen’ in Hebrew is one of 8 synonyms for beauty. ‘Hen’ corresponds to “Charm”. Charm is that aspect of beauty which expresses itself through the aesthetic of graceful symmetry; two inverse elements reflecting each other (נח – חן). As Noah was reflected in the Eyes of HaShem, he was found as Hen.
In the pupil of the eye, the image one sees appears inverted, then the brain puts it right (cf. David Kimchi, Sefer haShorashim s.v. Ish). That is how in G-d’s eyes ‘Noah’ becomes ‘Hen’.
The opposite happened to Er – ער, the firstborn of Judah, since his letters reversed and he was found as Ra – רע(evil) in the eyes of HaShem ( Genesis 38:7; cf. Zohar 1:58b).
Account of Noah Noah:
What made the difference with Noah? Scripture explains: “Account of Noah Noah was a Righteous man” -Genesis 6:9.
Noah was the 10th generation of mankind. Noah was the son of Lamech in the tenth generation after Adam. “The 10th shall be Holy for G-d” –Leviticus 27:32.
“The Zohar explains the verse, Noah Noah (Genesis 6:9) that every righteous person has two Ruakhs, one on earth below and one in Heaven above ” (Shaar haGilgulim 31:7a).
The word Noah is repeated twice in this verse, thus alluding to the upper grace (Hen Elyon) and the lower grace (Hen Tahton). Noah below reflected G-d above; which is the mystery found in the words: “Noah walked with G-d [Elokim]” (Gen 6:9). “Elokim” is the Divine Immanence (Shekhinah). So he became the foundation of the world (quite literally), as Solomon wrote: “The Righteous one is the foundation of the World” (Tsadik Yesod Olam; Proverbs 10:25 ). The Righteous one is the pillar for which the world stands. If there were not righteous persons on earth reflecting G-d, the world would not stand; “for the pillars of the earth are of HaShem, and He has set the world upon them”.
He raises the poor from the dust. He lifts the needy from the trash heap….. in order to make them sit with nobles and even to make them inherit a glorious throne. The pillars of the earth are of HaShem. He has set the world on them. -1 Samuel 2:8
RABBI ELAZAR ASKS: Why is “Noah Noah” (Beresheet 6:9) written twice? AND HE ANSWERS: Each and every righteous person in the world has two spirits. One stays in this world, while the other is in the World to Come. And so we find that the Holy One, blessed be He, named all the righteous twice: “Moses, Moses” (Shemot 3:4), “Jacob, Jacob” (Beresheet 46:2), “Abraham, Abraham” (Beresheet 22:11), “Samuel, Samuel” (I Shmuel 3:10) with the exception of Isaac. He is not named twice because when he approached the altar to be sacrificed, the soul that was within him in this world left him. And because it is said of Abraham, “blessed are You who resurrect the dead” THAT IS, “LAY NOT YOUR HAND UPON THE LAD” (BERESHEET 22:12), AFTER HE HAD LIFTED HIS HAND, INTENDING TO SLAY HIS CHILD, so only the soul of the World to Come was returned to him. AND THAT IS WHY HE IS NOT NAMED TWICE, ‘ISAAC, ISAAC’. And that is why you shall find that the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, was not unified UPON ANY OTHER RIGHTEOUS PERSON DURING HIS LIFETIME. It was unified only on Isaac, because he was already considered as dead. FOR HE HAD NO SOUL OF THIS WORLD, ONLY THAT OF THE World to Come. He was like those whopass away from this world. The verse therefore states: “Behold, He puts no trust in His holy ones” (Iyov 15:15) because He does not unify His name on the righteous during their lifetimes.
Righteous are preserved and Wicked are Taken Away:
But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. -Matthew 24:37-41
Read the Scriptures very Carefully, the righteous are always left. It shows the light that Israel, and those added to her, will be preserved in that day. It is the wicked that are taken away. My beloved, If You have been grafted/ Joined to Israel (Romans 11, Ephesians 2-3, Ezekiel 37), there is a time of testing that is coming upon the whole earth. G-d will shelter Israel – not by taking her out of the world, but by preserving her as an eternal testimony to His faithfulness.
Egyptians Experienced Seven Last Plagues But Israel Watched:
In the context of Exodus, the first three plagues were shared by all the inhabitants of Egypt, both Israelite and Egyptian. However, the last seven plagues, the Israelite’s watched on, as only Egyptians experienced the plagues. The same way it reflects in the book of revelation about Seven plagues… just like Revelation 15.
Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous: Seven angels having the Seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of G-d is complete. – Revelation 15 : 1
The “Seven rivers of fire” may be seen as angels: Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire. -Psalm 104:4
Soncino Zohar, Vayikra, 64b – At the time called “between the evenings” all those angels called “masters of howling” are vocal, and contention is rife in the world. That is the time when the Holy One arouses Isaac [Tr. note: Geburah.] and rises to judge the guilty who transgress the precepts of the Law. Seven rivers of fire issue forth and descend on the heads of the wicked, along with burning coals of fire.
The number seven is about Measure of punishment in the book of Revelation. And few of them are mentioned in the Scriptures:
- Reference to Cain and Lamech being avenged sevenfold – Genesis 4:24
- Disobedience resulting in a sevenfold increase in discipline – Leviticus 26:18
- Seven is associated with Demonic Realm: Balaam told Balak to build him seven altars and have seven bulls and seven rams brought to him – Numbers 23
- Seven priests, with seven horns, marching on the seventh day at Jericho – Joshua 6:4-13
- Nebuchenezzar losing his mind for seven years due to sin -Daniel 4:13
- HaShem sending a famine for seven years -II Kings 8:1
Noah and SIX HUNDRED:
We read that Noah was six hundred years old when he entered the Ark ( Genesis 7:6-7).
Now notice that Solomon hints us the two words: ‘Noah’ and ‘600’ in the verse: “Charm is deceitful” (Prov 31:30); in Hebrew: ‘Sheker haHen’.
The numerical value of Sheker = (שקר) 600 (שק”ר). And ‘Hen’ is “Noah” in symmetry, as stated above. So under this Light we see that “Grace is Deceitful” hints us to “the 600 of Noah”.
The Midrash says that Noah built the Ark so that his generation will have 120 years to repent and turn to G-d. So during the 120 years in which Noah was building the Ark, the people of his generation didn’t believe him. This is the secret found in “Sheker haHen”; Noah is a liar. Noah was Sheker, שקר (deceitful = 600) when the floodwaters came on earth.
Charm can lie ( i.e Grace is deceitful (sheker) )and Beauty is vain(hevel)”. –Proverbs 31:30
During the generation of Noah “the sons of G-d saw that the daughters of men were fair” (Genesis 6:2). People were occupied in achieving the beauty of this world for themselves, unaware that it was going to disappear. This is “Hevel haYofi”; beauty is vain. Now, applying the mystical aspect to this portion our sages interpret here: “the Torah which man learns in this world, will be vanity (hevel) before the Torah of Messiah” (cf. Kohelet Rabbah 11:8).
The dimensions of the ark:
And thus shalt thou make it: let the length of the ark be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. – Genesis 6: 15
find the translation letters of the dimensions of the ark:
300 cubits length – ש ; 50 cubits width – נ ; 30 cubits height – ל
We get the three letters that spell לָשֹן , the Hebrew word for “tongue!”. And the Ark is related to Speech. ( Yes, Tongue is a fire…… James 3 : 6a)
“Death and life [first death and then life, resurrection] are in the hand of the tongue.” – Proverbs 18 : 21
The good person brings forth good things from his store of good, and the evil person brings forth evil things from his store of evil. Moreover, I tell you this: on the Day of Judgement people will have to give account for every careless word they have spoken; for by your own words you will be acquitted, and by your own words you will be condemned.” – Matthew 12:35-38

Notes:
In this week’s Torah portion, Noah, we find the verse, In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life…all the fountains of the great deep were split and the windows of Heaven were opened. In the six hundredth year in the life of Noah… all wellsprings of the great deep burst open, and the windows of heaven were opened…-Genesis 7:11
The “physical” aspect of the heart (ie. the organ), this word plays a much larger role in the Hebraic context. Let’s examine this. We’ll start by looking at the first time the word lev is used in the Torah.
Gen. 6:5-6 – ” YHWH saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 Yahweh relented that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart.”
In Gen. 1:1, the very first word of Scripture is בראשית (B’reshiyt), which starts with a bet. In the end of Deut. 34:12, the very last word of the Torah is ישראל (Yisra’el), which ends with a lamed. The last letter is lamed, the first letter is bet, lev.
Can we say that it is the “heart” of YHWH for His people to become priests and Kings
‘Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; 6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.” -Ex. 19:5-6
” But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Elohim’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:” -1 Pet. 2:9
The Zohar explains that this refers to the beginning of the sixth century of the sixth millennium of Creation (the year 5500/1740, 258 years ago). At that time, the Divine fountains of knowledge would open up, both above in the celestial spheres and below in the physical realm, and the world would thus be prepared to enter the seventh millennium, the Messianic Age.
The Zohar describes the two types of knowledge that would be revealed during this time frame. The first is the opening of the “gates of knowledge above,” referring to Torah and G-dly wisdom, and the second is the“fountains of wisdom below,” referring to science and our understanding of nature and the physical world.
The same century saw an unprecedented eruption of knowledge in all fields of secular science — in mathematics, physics, medicine, technology and the social sciences — revolutionising all areas of human life.
According to the Zohar, this dual revolution came to prepare the world for the “seventh millennium” – the era of Moshiach, when the six “workday” millennia of history will culminate in an age “that is wholly Shabbat and tranquillity for life everlasting.”
The Talmud comments: Katina said, “Six thousand years the world will exist and one [thousand, the seventh], it shall be desolate (haruv), as it is written, ‘And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day’ (Isa. 2:11)… R. Katina also taught, “Just as the seventh year is the Shmita year, so too does the world have one thousand years out of seven that are fallow (mushmat), as it is written, ‘And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day’ (Isa. 2:11); and further it is written, ‘A psalm and song for the Shabbat day’ (Ps. 92:1) – meaning the day that is altogether Shabbat – and also it is said, ‘For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past’ (Psalms.90:4) (Sanhedrin 97a).”
The Midrash comments: “Six eons for going in and coming out, for war and peace. The seventh eon is entirely Shabbat and rest for life everlasting”.
The Zohar explains: “The redemption of Israel will come about through the mystic force of the letter “Vav” [which has the numerical value of six], namely, in the sixth millennium…. Happy are those who will be left alive at the end of the sixth millennium to enter the Shabbat, which is the seventh millennium; for that is a day set apart for the Holy One on which to effect the union of new souls with old souls in the world (Zohar, Vayera 119a).”
G d said to Noah . . . “Come into the ark” – Genesis 7:1
The Hebrew word for “Ark,” teivah, also means “Word.” “Come into the word,” says G d; Enter within the words of prayer and Torah study. Here you will find a sanctuary of wisdom, meaning and holiness amidst the raging floodwaters of life. The holy Ba’al Shem Tov, stressed time and again, that as an enduring spiritual lesson, the construction of Noah’s ark instructs us on the proper way to construct the words that we speak, specifically, but not limited to, when we pray before the Almighty and say words of Torah. –-Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov
RABBI ELAZAR ASKS: What is the Ark? AND HE ANSWERS: It is the ark, WHICH IS MALCHUT (i.e Kingdom ), of the covenant AFTER SHE RECEIVES YESOD ( i.e foundation), WHICH IS CALLED THE COVENANT WITHIN HER. And Noah and the ark below were like YESOD AND MALCHUT above, BECAUSE the covenant is mentioned in relation to Noah, as it is written: “And I will establish My covenant with you“ (Beresheet 6:18). As long as the covenant was not established in Noah, he did not enter the ark, as it is written: “And I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall come into the ark.” Only then does the ark become the ark of the covenant, meaning that after the ark received and accepted Noah the righteous, who is the covenant, it became the ark of the covenant.
But seek ye first the kingdom of G-d [i.e., Malkut], and his righteousness ( i.e Way of the Tzaddik ), ( ….The Tzadik is the foundation of the world” -Proverbs 10:25 ) and all these things shall be added unto you. -Matthew 6:33
A Person’s level of righteousness corresponds to their level of relationship with G-d. Contrast Genesis 6:9, “…in fear of the Lord he (Noah) walked,” with verses regarding the more righteous Abraham such as; Gen 12:7 and 17:1, “The Lord appeared to Abraham,” and Gen 24:40, “… the Lord before whom I (Abraham) walk.”
And Noah built an altar to G d – Genesis 8:20
The location of the altar [in the Holy Temple] is very exactly defined, and is never to be changed. . . . It is a commonly held tradition that the place where David and Solomon built the altar, on the threshing floor of Aravnah, is the very place where Abraham built an altar and bound Isaac upon it; this is where Noah built [an altar] when he came out from the ark; this is where Cain and Abel brought their offerings; this is where Adam the First Man offered a korban when he was created-and it is from [the earth of] this place that he was created. Thus the sages have said: Man was formed from the place of his atonement. –(Maimonides)
Yeshua Words: Leave your ( i.e House of Israel ) offering there before the altar and go, first be reconciled with your brother ( i.e house of judah), and then come, bring your offering – Matthew 5 : 25
As it is Written: “From beyond the rivers of KUSH my worshipers, the daughter of My dispersed ones (Ephraim/Manasseh), shall bring My offering” – Zephaniah 3:10
…These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. -Isaiah 56:7
In the days of Noah Earth is filled with Violence [i.e robbery ]
For the Son of Man’s coming will be just as it was in the days of Noach. Back then, before the Flood, people went on eating and drinking, taking wives and becoming wives, right up till the day Noach entered the ark; and they didn’t know what was happening until the Flood came and swept them all away. It will be just like that when the Son of Man comes. -Matthew 24:37-39
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgement upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. -Jude 1:14-16
Five SINS specified in the book of revelation: It is taught that this generation was guilty of these sins are Idolatry, Murder, Sorcery, Sexual sin, Theft.
Nor did they turn from their murdering, their involvement with the occult and with drugs, their sexual immorality or their stealing ( Robbery) . -Revelation 9:21
Rabbi Nachmanides: “The third group of idol worshippers eventually served demons, a type of spirit, for also of them are appointed over nations to damage their enemies. Regarding this, the verse says(Deuteronomy 32:17): “They sacrificed to demons, which were not G-d: gods that they did not know; new ones recently concocted, whom your forefathers did not dread.” The verse makes fun of them; they sacrifice to demons, which are not Divine at all. They are not [even] like angels, or separate intelligences that are called Divine, but these are gods they never know, that is, they have no Divinity or power, they are newly thought up, in other words, they learned of them anew from the Egyptians, who engage in sorcery, and even your wicked forefathers such as Terach and Nimrod weren’t afraid of them.”
We know from Scripture that blood contains the spiritual life force, therefore blood is very powerful. And the aspect of murder directly associated with the Sitra Atra (the evil realm).
Great demonic activity, as cited in the book of Jude: And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day. -Jude 1:6
Zohar writings: World of Yetzirah through Magic/Divination:
“R. Eleazar said: ‘In the time of Enosh, men were skilled in magic and divination, and in the art of controlling the heavenly forces. Adam had brought with him from the Garden of Eden the knowledge of “the leaves of the tree”, but he and his wife and their children did not practice it. When Enosh came, however, he saw the advantage of these arts and how the heavenly courses could be altered by them, and he and his contemporaries studied them and practiced magic and divination. From them these arts descended to the generation of the Flood and were practiced for evil purposes by all the men of that time. Relying upon these arts, they defied Noah, saying that divine justice could never be executed upon them, since they knew a way to avert it. The practice of these arts commenced with Enosh, and hence it is said of his time, THEN WAS THE NAME OF THE LORD CALLED UPON PROFANELY. R. Isaac said: All the righteous men that were among them sought to restrain them, such as Jered, Methuselah, and Enoch, but without success, and the world became full of sinners who rebelled against their Master saying, “What is the Almighty that we should serve him?” (Job 21:15). This is not so foolish as it sounds, for they knew all the arts we have mentioned and all the ruling chieftains in charge of the world, and on this knowledge they relied, until at length G-d disabused them by restoring the earth to its primitive state and covering it with water. Later, He again restored it and made it productive, since He looked upon it with mercy, as it is written, “The Lord sat at the Flood”-”the Lord” signifying the attribute of mercy. In the days of Enoch even children were acquainted with these mysterious arts.’ Said R. Yesa: ‘If so, how could they be so blind as not to know that G-d intended to bring the Flood upon them and destroy them?’ R. Isaac replied: ‘They did know, but they thought they were safe because they were acquainted with the angel in charge of fire and the angel in charge of water, and had means of preventing them from executing judgement on them. What they did not know was that G-d rules the world and that punishment proceeds from Him. They only saw that the world was entrusted to those chieftains and that everything was done through them, and therefore they took no heed of G-d and His works until the time came for the earth to be destroyed and the Holy Spirit proclaimed every day, “Let sinners be consumed out of the earth and let the wicked be no more” (Psalm 104:35). G-d gave them a respite all the time that the righteous men Jered, Methuselah, and Enoch were alive; but when they departed from the world, G-d let punishment descend upon them and they perished, as it says, “and they were blotted out from the earth” (Genesis 7:23).”
Zohar, Midrash and Talmud discuss the Sexual Sins of Noah’s time:
“There is no sin in the world which so much provokes the anger of the Almighty as the sin of neglecting the covenant, as we read, “a sword that shall execute the vengeance of the covenant” (Lev. XXVI, 25). The proof is that in the generation of the Flood the measure of sin was not filled up until mankind became (sexually) perverted and destroyed their seed.” -Zohar, Bereshith 66b
“The men of the generation of the Flood used to act thus: each took two wives, one for procreation and the other for sexual gratification. The former would stay like a widow through- out her life, while the latter was given to drink a potion of roots, so that she should not bear, and then she sat before him like a harlot, as it is written, He devoureth the barren that beareth not, and doeth not good to the widow (Job XXlV, 21). The proof of this is that the best of them, who was Lamech, took two wives, Adah, [so called] because he kept her away (ya’ade) from himself; and Zillah, to sit in his shadow (zillo).” -Midrash Rabbah, Genesis 23:3
“Hence it is written, For they were fair, which refers to virgins; And they took them wives, refers to married women, Whomsoever they chose: that means males and beasts. R. Huna said in R, Joseph’s name: The generation of the Flood were not blotted out from the world until they composed nuptial songs in honour of pederasty and bestiality. R. Simlai said: Wherever you find lust, an epidemic visits the world which slays both good and bad.” -Midrash Rabbah, Genesis 26:5
“For all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. R. Johanan said: This teaches that they caused beasts and animals, animals and beasts, to copulate; and all of these were brought in connection with man, and man with them all.” -Talmud, Sanhedrin 108a
“The Generation of the Flood were blotted out from the world because they were steeped in whoredom. R. Samlai observed: In every instance where you find the prevalence of whoredom, an androlepsia1 comes upon the world and slays both good and bad. R. Huna says in the name of R. Jose: The Generation of the Flood were only blotted out of the world on account of their having written hymenean songs for sodomy. R. ‘Azariah in the name of R. Judah son of R. Simeon and R. Joshua b. Levi in the name of Bar Kappara say: We find that the Holy One, blessed be He, is long-suffering towards every offence except whoredom, and there are numerous texts to bear this out.” -Midrash Rabbah, Leviticus 23:9
Talmud – Mas. Sanhedrin 108a – And G-d said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me. R. Johanan said: Come and see how great is the power of robbery. For lo, though the generation of the flood transgressed all laws, their decree of punishment was sealed only because they stretched out their hands to rob, as it is written, for the earth is filled with violence through them, and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. And it is ‘also written, Violence [i.e., robbery] is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.
Talmud – Mas. Baba Bathra 88b – Ordinary robbery is worse than the robbery of the Most High
“To rob a fellow-man even of the value of a perutah [a very small amount] is like taking away his life.” -Talmud, Baba Kama 119a
“Rain is withheld only because of the sin of violent robbery.” -Talmud, Ta’anith 7b
Rabbienu Maran Yeshua Words: saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”
Theft once again is counted among the most egregious sins can be seen in the book of revelation:
yea they did not reform from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their whoredoms, nor from their thefts(i.e their stealing.) –Revelation 9:21
Even Yom Kippur would not bring atonement for theft, unless the thief made things right with his victim: “[If one says]: I shall sin and the day of atonement will procure atonement for me, the day of atonement procures for him no atonement. For transgressions as between man and the omnipresent the day of atonement procures atonement, but for transgressions as between man and his fellow the day of atonement does not procure any atonement, until he has pacified his fellow.” Mishnah Yoma 85b
Very Important Note: what a wonderful scriptures which are in Talmud, Midrash and New Testament are in such alignment on this specific issue.
Noah and Messiah:
Noah = Hen. ‘Hen’ is the acronym for: Hokhma Nistarah (hidden wisdom). And the deeper hidden Wisdom is about the Torah of Messiah.
In the secret of Noah appearing backwards in G-d’s eyes, as explained above, our sages said: “turn it over and turn it over for all is in it” (Avot: 5:22). By turning once and again Noah ie. the Torah, one finds its most inner dimension (the Torah of Messiah).
Here is the connection between Noah and Messiah: Isaiah alludes to both in the verse: “Who has believed our message? And to whom the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground” – (Isaiah 53:1-2).
Noah represents the rest that the earth will experience from all uncleanness.
Just as the earth was flooded with water, in the time of Messiah the earth will be flooded with the knowledge of G-d -Isaiah 11:2.
What does it mean that the Torah of this world is vanity before the Torah of Messiah? Does it mean that Torah will pass? Can even the smallest letter of the Torah pass while Heaven and Earth still exist? Not so. But Torah of Messiah will be in a new level, for it’s written: “a [New] Torah will come from me” (Ez 36:26). Of this our sages say: “All the commandments of the Torah will be obeyed in a totally different manner” (cf. Hemsekh vKakha 5637, ch 18, 19, 21).
Because Messiah will reveal the spiritual aspect which is within the physical aspect of every command, as “the Physical commands are shadows of the spiritual aspect within them” (cf. Torah Ohr, Mikets 37b), so that we will experience the Divine (cf. Likutei Halakhot, Eiruvei Tekhumim 5:22).
In the time of Noah, when the flood came, No one needed to say that Noah was right. It was obvious for all of them, they were living the words of Noah. So too in the time of Messiah, none will need to teach their neighbour saying: Know G-d, “because they will all know Me” -Jeremiah 31:34
In the merit of the Righteous one, the Messiah.
Messiah ben Yosef is to be rejected, just as Noah was rejected. “Sheker haHen” – He is considered a liar by his generation. “Messiah ben Yosef recognizes his brothers, but they don’t recognize him. This is an act of the Satan, who conceals Messiah ben Yosef’s attributes… if Israel recognised Yosef… we would have been completely redeemed already” (cf. Vilna Gaon; Kol haTor 2:39).
The Midrash teaches that “the Sea of Reeds was split only because of Yosef’s merits” (הים לא נקרע אלא בזכותו של יוסף;Bereshit Rabbah 84:5). According to tradition, it happened the 6th day of the Omer-count (cf. Seder Olam Rabbah 5), and the 6 has to do with the Sixth Sefirah of Zeir Anpin; ie. the attribute of Yesod.
The Zohar (Beshalakh) and the Midrash on the Psalms (cf. Sokhar Tov 114:3) investigate on the verse: “the Sea saw and fled” (Psal 114:3). Rabbi Yitzhak asks: “What did the sea see? It saw the coffin of Yosef and fled from before it; for it’s written the same expression about him in the verse: ‘[left his garments in her hand] and fled, and got him out’ (Gen 39:12) . As retribution of Yosef’s righteousness, the sea fled from the one who fled.
According to Rabbi Nahman of Breslev, even all the process from the exodus to the way to the Holy Land was achieved by the merits of Yosef, as it’s stated literally by Yosef: “G-d will surely visit you and you will ascend my essence hence with you” (Exodus 13:19).
It’s thus written: “Yosef sustains his father and his brothers and his father’s entire house” (Genesis 47:12).
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. -Hebrews 11:7
and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; -II Peter 2:5
who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. -1 Peter 3:20
The Zohar says in many places that [the name] Noah inherently means Shabbat.
A Noahide who studies Torah is compared to the High Priest, and thus as long as the focus is his performance of Seven Laws, if he can maneuver the entire Torah amidst these Seven (which any true scholar of Torah can illuminate its fractal qualities), then the whole Torah is at his fingertips, along with an additional 30 Commandments to aide his Torah study and service of G-d. The Priesthood, Torah, and Noahides fittingly work their way back to Noah, as Shem the son of Noah was both a Priest and an original Noahide, both in the name of Torah; Shem received everything through Noah his father. [Avos D’ Rebbe Natan] Many people are not aware of the vast foundational principles that originate with Noah, such as the Torah Tradition, service of G-d, etc. It should be no longer hidden from the eyes that not only did Noah enter the World into a Shabbat reality within the Ark, build the World around the concept of easing one’s labor, but he gave the World an eternal gift of this ease and Torah with a Priestly feel for those of a Righteous inclination: Shabbat. Indeed, Noah truly is the father of the Sabbath, and it is a credit to Noah that he absolutely built a World that is destined to last forever, one centered around the philosophy of Shabbat, exactly as his prophetic name would imply, “This one will build the World and ease us from our labor.” It just so happens, that even despite Rashi, we all can take great comfort in the Righteous Noah and take a special opportunity to learn his Torah, even on the Holy Sabbath Day – in merit of Noah, Jew and Noahide…and the World will continue, just as promised to Noah. -Rabbi David Katz
Haftarat Noach – Noah – Isaiah 54:1-55:5
The haftarah portion draws from the themes of Parashat Noach and Isaiah speaks of the exiled nation of Israel as a woman unable to have children, stranded in despair, but about to be redeemed.
Our haftarah portion begins like this:
The rabbis and Isaiah were hoping to draw a comparison between the renewal of the Earth after the Flood, the return to Zion prophesied by Isaiah, and the final, ultimate redemption of the Messiah and the World to Come.
Her tents need to be enlarged. These are the “Tents of Shem” – these are the “Tents of Jacob” – Because in them dwells the Presence of the Almighty and an invitation for all peoples to dwell there with Him, amongst his covenant people
“Sing, O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says HaShem. “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.” -Isaiah 54:1-2
For your Maker is your Husband, HaShem of hosts is His Name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the G-d of the whole earth. For HaShem has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a youthful wife when you were refused,” Says your G-d. -Isaiah 54:4-6
So, G-d has not divorced Himself from His bride, Israel. No beloved, may it never be, because if it were so, none of us would have any hope. He goes on to tell His beloved Israel:
For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” Says HaShem, your Redeemer. –Isaiah 54:7-8
For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says HaShem, who has mercy on you. –Isaiah 54:9-10
Consider what the Holy One, blessed is He, is promising to Israel – to Jerusalem:
O you afflicted one, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, and lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of crystal, and all your walls of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by HaShem, and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.-Isaiah 54:11-14
We will see that the children of Israel return to Most High and Torah of Mashiach, And will hug in the Holy Land, and by obeying and listening the “VOICE of Most Ancient Holy One of Israel”, will bring offerings in a righteous way on the holy mountain and also bring the Ark of the covenant with pure heart in the right place ( i.e In Har HaBayit, on the foundation Stone) .
We will Welcome the son of David on Mount Zion, Jerusalem.
